Math 8 - Stone

Happy Monday! Only 7 weeks left.

We did investigation 1.2 today. We are working on rearranging equations from slope-intercept to standard (and the other way as well). We also discussed parallel and perpendicular lines. We looked at their slopes to discover the relationship.




 

Science-Wilcox-Monday

Classwork: Today we read and took notes on Properties of Sound (pages 454-457). Students then answered the review questions (21.1) which are due on Wednesday.

Coming up: This week we are studying and investigating sound as well as how the ear works. Coming up at the end of next week will be our Sound & Waves test!

Stein - Individuals & Societies 8 - 5.1.17

What We Did Today:

We started Chapter 16, the Civil War. We discussed the time-line at the beginning of the chapter. Students read section 1 and had a free choice for their assignment.

Section 1  Main Ideas

1. Following the outbreak of war at Fort Sumter, Americans chose sides.

2. The Union and the Confederacy prepared for war.

Homework:

16.1 is due tomorrow. Audio mp3s are available at http://norupstein.weebly.com/individuals--societies-blog. Also, any work that needs to be completed for your IB Project should be worked on as well. This is due May 8.

Stein - Math 8 Plus - 5.1.17

What We Did Today:

Students completed Problem 1.3: "Sliding Around: Translations." Students discovered properties of translational symmetry and used these generalizations to construct their own translation. Notes and vocabulary are available at http://norupstein.weebly.com/math-8-plus-blog.

Focus Question:

What does it mean to say that a figure has slide or translational symmetry? How is each point related to its image under transformation by translation?

Homework:

None.

Spanish 2

Students started Unit 9 and made flashcards.

Canvasser Monday 5.1.17

Happy Monday!

RR ELA- Reading logs were due today! If you did not turn one in, you may do so tomorrow for late points! The new reading logs are due Monday ( 5.8.17) students should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes for five days a week. Students must also complete the short reader's response section, along with having a parent signature for all five days.

RR Math- The blue group can complete workbook pages ( week 2, day 4) if not finished in class. The signed homework packet and multiplication sheet are due Tuesday ( 5.2.17) the math test will also be on Tuesday ( 5.2.17).

*Students need to bring their AR books to class and home daily!*
