Week of March 29

Science: Demonstrated harmonic motion and described period and frequency. Students took notes on pages 414-417 and practiced calculating period & frequency.

Geometry: Completed sections 10.3 & 10.4.

Social Studies: Students corrected chapter 13 assessment and completed chapter 13 quiz in class Monday.-No homework for Monday.-Tuesday students will be introduced to chapter 14 by taking notes on a brief video and examining a time line of the progressive era.-Homework folders are due Wednesday and students should be ready to discuss current events Wednesday (current events will be conversation only).-Wednesday students will be turning in homework folders and sharing current events.-No homework over break...enjoy!!

Spanish 1: Because of the assemblies and upcoming vacation, this week we are spending previewing unit 2, chapter 3, and learning about Mexico City. There will be no homework till after break, but please use any free time to start to learn the new vocabulary and grammar.

Spanish 8: We are looking at noun-adjective agreement through the vocabulary on page 77. There is no homework till after break.

LA - students will continue reading Science Fiction stories for the rest of the week. They will also discuss the stories using literary elements and also practice writing response paragraphs.
Adverbs packet is due tomorrow 3/30. HW - grammar packet


Journalism - rough drafts are due today (Monday) as well as packet #3. This is their last day of Journalism until we get back from spring break. All assignments need to be completed today. HW - none.

Algebra: Chapter 8 Test is Tuesday. Explorathon girls will take the test on Wednesday.

Pre Algebra: We are going to work on finishing Chapter 6

Course 3: We are going to finish chapter 8 and have a QUEST on Wednesday.

Algebra 2: We are going to finish chapter 10 this week.

Science: Students worked on lab re-do's and watched Bill Nye "Static Electricity". Lab re-do's are due on Monday.

Geometry: 10.2 Notes (arc measures). 10.2 worksheet is homework.

Course 3: Austin- All students got to pick from 3 math activities. No homework.

LA - worked on Adverbs packet. Due Tuesday 3/26. Students had the opportunity to complete it in class. HW - grammar packet

Journalism - worked on rough drafts and packet #3. HW - finish articles. Due on 3/29

Social Studies: Students worked on chapter 13 assessment and reviewed for chapter 13 quiz. Homework is to study for quiz on Monday. Homework folder Wednesday.

Spanish 1: We looked at the new vocabulary and kids made Spanish tabu cards and finished the 2-2 exam. There is no homework.

Spanish 8: The kids made large people posters to practice clothing and colors in Spanish. There is no homework.

Science: Took the Electricity Unit test. Labs are being returned at conferences or in class on Friday. Lab re-do's are due on Monday.

Geometry: 10.1 notes in class (tangents). 10.1 worksheet is homework.

Course 3: Austin- We finished notes on lesson 8.5. Homework - worksheet 8.5, all.
Finished notes on 8.5 and have homework.

Algebra: Reviewed for Chapter 8 Test on March 30th.

Algebra 2: 10.1 and 10.2 Homework (#3-55 every other odd, except on 10.2). We did not cover Pascal's triangle or the binomial theorem.

Pre Algebra: Took notes on 6.8. Chapter 6 Test is on March 30th

LA - continued reading "The Outsiders". Students took a Science fiction quiz. Students' discussed literary elements of science fiction and incorporated how to write a good topic sentence and provide examples to support a paragraph. HW - none

Journalism - World, National and local articles are due today. Rough drafts are due 3/29 and the 3rd packet (famous people who write for the news). HW - finish articles.

Spanish 1: We finished the chapter test today and read an article about the creation of Tenochtitlán, the Aztec capital. We will be talking about Tenochtitlán (which is now Mexico City) in the next few days, using it as a chance to practice the preterite. Kids who are gone for the various trips and events of the next few days should start to familiarize themselves with the new chapter, 2-3.

Spanish 8: The kids had a small pronunciation test today and continued to work on Enrique and María. There is no homework.

Social Studies: Students shared current events and began work on chapter 13 assessment in class. Chapter 13 assessment is due Monday. Chapter 13 quiz on Monday. Homework folders due Wednesday.

Science: Watched Bill Nye "Electrical Currents" and went over the test review. Electricity test is tomorrow. "What is Safe?" labs will either be given to parents at conferences or passed back to students on Friday.

Geometry: Took the chapter 9 "Quest". 10-1 Notes are homework.

Algebra: We did a graphing calculator activity on exponential growth and decay (8.5 and 8.6). Both sections are due tomorrow for homework. Quiz corrections are due tomorrow!

Algebra 2: Students finished the Chapter 9 Test and we started Chapter 10.

Course 3: Projects are due today. We also went over 8.1 and have 8.1 homework. Austin- We finished our projects and started notes on lesson 8.5. Homework- worksheet 8.5 #1-5.


Pre Algebra: We checked 6.5 Homework and have 6.6 Notes. No homework.

Spanish 1: We did the 2-2 exam today. We will finish it tomorrow since a number of students need some more time.

Spanish 8: There is a pronunciation quiz tomorrow based on Enrique y María, section 2.

LA - Continued reading "The Outsiders" and Science Fiction Stories. The class reviewed for their science fiction quiz tomorrow. Discussion of literary elements, using the stories as a reference. HW - none

Journalism - finishing National, World and Local articles. Due Thursday. Working on rough drafts - due 3/30. Working on 3rd packet - famous reporters and writers, due 3/30

Science: Electricity test is Thursday, March 25! Today we worked on the test review which is due on Wednesday. Students were given a sheet of 43 questions that must be completed on a separate piece of paper with complete sentences or problem solving boxes. The questions are from the following sections of the book:
Pg. 315- Vocabulary #1-15, Reviewing Concepts - #11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 21 & 28 & Solving problems - #2, 3, 7, 8, 10 & 11.
Pg. 336 - Reviewing Concepts # 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 13, & 15
Pg. 356 - Vocabulary #1-7

Geometry: 9.7 notes (dilations). 9.7 worksheet is homework. Chapter 9 "Quest" Wednesday, March 24.

Course 3: Austin & Baker- We worked on our restaurant project, Am I a good tipper? No homework.

Algebra: We started 8.5 and students must go over their notes tonight. We will finish 8.5 tomorrow and students will have 8.5 homework


Algebra 2: Chapter 9 Test tomorrow.

Pre Algebra: Projects are due tomorrow. Today we are going to go over the scale drawing section 6.5 and students have homework.

LA - Continued with the "Outsiders." Tests and quizzes were reviewed and returned. The class continued to read and discuss Science Fiction. HW - none.

Journalism - class did not meet due to the assembly. HW - none.

Social Studies: Students checked 13.2 guided reading and read 13.3 aloud in class. Homework is to complete 13.3 section assessment.

Spanish 1: Our chapter test is going to be on Wednesday because of the assemblies and trips of the last few days. For tomorrow, please do the chapter review on pages 140-141. Please do the first half of the questions for each section of the review.

Spanish 8: Please finish the questions about the chapter of Enrique y María, chapter 1.

Spanish 1: After talking with my classes and seeing how many students will be missing from the 7th hour class today and Monday, we will be changing our chapter 2-2 test to Wednesday so that those students can have a more complete review.

Spanish 8: Today was the Televisión test. There is no homework over the weekend.

LA - Continued reading "The Outsiders" to the class. Students took their adjectives quiz and the grammar packet was collected. HW - none

Journalism - students worked on their rough drafts or their world, local and national articles. HW - W,L,N articles are due Monday. Rough drafts due Tuesday.

Course 3: We went over the probability game and reviewed for our Chapter test tomorrow. Austin- We reviewed for our chapter 7 test tomorrow.

Pre Algebra: Students received their project criteria and we started working on it in class.

Spanish 1: Please do the worksheet of page 48. Do all the exercises and write actividad 21 out in full sentences.

Spanish 8: Tomorrow is the oral quiz over the five sentences from La televisión es importante.

Journalism - students worked on "The Great American Newspaper War" packet. HW - finish the packet.

Spanish 1: We practiced time and question words today. Please finish the question sheet about ¿Conoces la historia? for tomorrow. The chapter test will be Tuesday, March 23.

Spanish 8: We are finishing up La televisión es muy importante. Today students presented small dialogues and for tomorrow they must read a summary paragraph to an adult (over age 18) from handout #7. Please get a signature to verify that you read the summary.

Social Studies: Students were introduced to 13.1 in class. Current events due tomorrow. Homework folders will be returned tomorrow.

Science: IB Area of Interaction Focus-Approaches to Learning & Organization. Students worked on organizing their binders/folders as well as organizing their project write-ups. Please see Friday's post for the project rubric. Circuits & write-ups are due Friday, March 19, we will be working on the project all week in class. Electricity test is Thursday, March 25.

Geometry: Went over practice test. Chapter 8 review is homework. Chapter 8 test tomorrow.

Algebra: Today we took a deeper look into the true meaning of exponents. Through the use of multiple representations, students constructed tables and models to symbolize exponential functions. No homework tonight.

Algebra 2: We celebrated pi day by reading articles about the history of pi. We spoke about infinite series of pi and the mathematical universal discipline. We also finished our discussion on conic sections by analyzing the presence of conic sections in the real world.
9.6 is homework tonight.

Course 3: We are reviewing in preparation for our Chapter 6 Test on Thursday. Austin-Today we checked our homework. We then played a probability game. No homework.

Pre Algebra: We took a practice Quiz today and are preparing for a quiz tomorrow.

Spanish 1: Today we practiced time and read a dialogue called "¿Conoce usted historia?" Please finish the worksheet about la hora (time) and review your question words.

Spanish 8: Please make sure all of you handouts about "La televisión es muy importante" are finished. There are 8 handouts and practice sheets as well as the original reading.

Social Studies: Students checked 12.4 and were introduced to chapter 13 (Manifest Destiny) in class today. Homework folders were turned in today. No homework (current events due Wednesday).

LA - Students started to watch the timeless classic "To Kill a Mockingbird". HW - none

March 19: Circuit Presentations & Write-Ups due.

Course 3: Austin-We finished notes on lesson 7.8. Homework-Worksheet 7.8 all. Most students finished in class. Baker-

Pre Algebra: No homework. Practice quiz on Monday 6.1-6.4 and Quiz on 6.1-6.4 on Tuesday. Chapter 6 Project will be assigned on Tuesday.

LA - Students took their cumulative novel test today. They also handed in their paper and worksheets. HW - none. Please note: Monday and Tuesday of next week student's will be watching the timeless classic "To Kill a Mockingbird" in class.

Journalism - students were to read a World, National and local article and report on each. HW - none

Social Studies: Students checked 12.3 guided reading, read 12.4 aloud and began work on 12.4 section assessment in class. Homework is to complete 12.4 section assessment. Homework folders are due Monday.

Spanish 1: We went over the quizzes from Wednesday and the questions handed out yesterday. There is no homework over the weekend.

Spanish 8: We are finishing the reading selection called "¡La television es muy importante!" Kids need to have their entire packet of handouts (#1-#6) with them on Monday for credit for materials. They will present the last four lines of the conversation on Tuesday.

Course 3: We started notes on 7.7 and did practice problems. No homework if finished in class. Austin- We finished notes on lesson 7.7. Homework - worksheet 7.7 # 1-11 odds, 13-16,18,20,21.

Pre Algebra: We went over our notes from yesterday and started 6.4. Students have 6.4 homework #1-10 all

Social Studies: Students shared current events, corrected 12.2 section assessment and were introduced to 12.3 in class. No homework.

LA - Continued with the "Outsiders". Students had the whole hour to type up their final drafts (which are due Friday). If students are typing at home they were working on completing their worksheets and studying for their test. HW - paper, worksheets, and study for test, Friday 3/12.

Geometry: 8.3 notes in class (proving parallelograms). 8.3 worksheet. 8.1-8.3 quiz on Tuesday.

LA - Continued to read and discuss "The Outsiders". Students peer edited their rough drafts (first 3 paragraphs), this counted as a homework grade. Student's continued to work on their papers, worksheets and completing their novels. HW - book must be completed by Monday 3/8. Pronoun quiz 3/9 (grammar packet will be collected for a homework grade). Literary analysis paper is due Friday 3/12, including novel worksheets. The novel test will be given on 3/12 as well.

Journalism - final placement. Students are gathering information for the nest issue. The rough draft is due 3/23. HW - none.

Course 3: Austin- We went over last nights homework. Started lesson 7.6. No homework. Baker-
Students learned 7.6. No homework this weekend.

Algebra: We held a Chapter 7 Review session. Chapter 7 Test on Tuesday.

LA - Continued reading "The Outsiders". Student's corrected the pronoun packet so they can study for their quiz on Tuesday. The literary analysis rough draft is due tomorrow for peer editing. (only the first 3 paragraphs). Attached are the directions (TKM & WGB) and rubric for the paper. Students were to pick one choice out of the 3 given to write on. HW - work on paper (rough draft due tomorrow), finish novels (due Monday 3/8). Novel test, novel worksheets, and final paper are due 3/12.

Pre Algebra: Students took 6.1 Quiz and have chapter 6 worksheet. Due tomorrow.

Humanities: Students completed chapter 11 assessment and reviewed for chapter 11 quiz in class. Chapter 11 assessment and current event due tomorrow. Chapter 11 quiz tomorrow.

LA - continued reading "The Outsiders". Students were introduced to pronouns and worked on the grammar packet in class. Students also worked on their rough drafts, and their novel worksheets. HW - Grammar packet is due Thursday 3/4. Rough drafts are due 3/5 (intro/thesis, and 1st two paragraphs of the body). Novels should be completed by Monday 3/9

Journalism - last effort to get final drafts completed. Place drafts into paper. HW - none.

Monday, March 1

Science: Investigation 14 (series and parallel circuits) in class. No homework.

Geometry: Went over chapter review and practiced law of sine and cosine. Chapter 7 test tomorrow.

Algebra: Study for Quiz tomorrow on 7.1-7.4. 7.5 is due on Wednesday - after the quiz you can finish 7.5 homework.

Algebra 2: No class today. Tomorrow you will get your tests back and Wednesday we are going over the midterm.

Course 3: We went over 7.4 and started 7.5. No homework. No class tomorrow due to early release! Austin- We took notes on lesson 7.4. Homework-worksheet 7.4, #1-20,25-28.

Pre Algebra: We talked about our profits from the fundraiser. I am very proud of all of the hard work the students put into this event! It was a great success! Then, we went over 6.2 notes. No homework tonight. Tomorrow, you will have a 6.1 mini quiz as well as a 6.2 in class worksheet.

Spanish 1: Good job on the oral quiz today, kids! No homework for tomorrow! :) Spanish 8: Remember our test on Thursday!

LA - Read aloud the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Book discussion TKM 19-24 WGTB 11-13, work on worksheets. HW - read TKM 25- end and WGTB 14-end due 3/8. Rough drafts due 3/5 for peer editing. Final drafts due 3/12. Novel test 3/12. Worksheets will be collected for a homework grade on the 12th.

Journalism - Final drafts.

Humanities: Students reviewed 11.2 and 11.3 in class. Homework is to begin chapter 11 assessment. This will serve as a study guide for a test on Wednesday.
