Science: Continued working on "I-Search" instrument research project. See previous posts (Wednesday & Thursday) for directions and rubrics. Peer review is Tuesday, May 4, paper is due Thursday, May 6.

Geometry: Took the chapter 11 quiz. 11.5 worksheet is homework.

Course 3: Austin- We took notes on lesson 11.1. Homework - Worksheet 11.1 #1-13.

LA - Finished The Outsiders! We went over the Bishop's Silver vocabulary homework and completed the story. HW - none

Journalism - Final drafts are due today. HW - none

Science: Today we worked on writing the "I-Search" instrument paper. Please see the attached directions and rubric. Peer review is Tuesday, May 4 and final paper is due Thursday, May 6.

Geometry: 10.5 Notes in class, homework is to complete checkpoints and study for tomorrow's quiz.

Algebra 2:

LA - The Outsiders. We will finish it tomorrow! Continued reading and discussing Bishop's Silver. Student's had time in class to start on their definitions. The vocabulary is due tomorrow 4/30. countenance, fancs, ignominy, vagabond, austere, omen, bishop, perturbed, oratory, haversack, stupefaction, apparition, timorous. HW - complete the vocabulary words.

Journalism - typing final drafts. They are due tomorrow for credit, 4/30. HW - none

Spanish 1: We are starting on unit 3, chapter 1, as well as getting a head start on the irregular verbs of chapter 3-2. There is a lot of memorization, so don't hold off studying! I will be out of the building Friday and Monday, so the students will receive an instruction sheet with their assignments. Please follow those instructions.

Spanish 8: We continue to work on our Spain unit. The students have three sentences to memorize as well as facts about Spain for a small quiz tomorrow. Because I will be out of the building Friday and Monday, the class will receive an instruction sheet which they should follow.

Career Tech - Entered High School Schedules into Career Cruising, and then took some time off. EDPs are due signed tomorrow.

Integrated Tech - Finish motorized wheelchair designs and discussed gears and how they work. No homework.

Science: Began the "I-Search Instruments" research project. We will be working on this paper for the rest of the week. Peer review will be Tuesday, May 4 and final paper will be due Thursday, May 6.

Geometry: 11.4 Notes (Circumference of circles and distances of arcs), 11.4 worksheet is homework. 11.1-11.4 quiz on Friday.

Algebra: Students worked on a "scavenger hunt" exploration for Chapter 10.

Algebra 2: Students worked on a Trigonometric function worksheet. This is due tomorrow.

Pre Algebra: Students worked on Chapter 7 Worksheets and Standardized test practice.

Course 3: Chapter 9.1-9.4 Test today. Worksheet on Pythagorean theorem is due tomorrow. Austin- Students took quiz today. No homework.

Spanish 1: We started looking through chapter 3-1 today. The vocabulary for this chapter includes a lot of longer phrases, so get started on learning the vocabulary and the irregular verb conjugations from the chapter! Homework for tomorrow is 204#5. Please write full sentences.

Spanish 8: More studying about Spain. The students said the two sentences they memorized for today and got one more: A veces, las tradiciones antiguas no son aceptables en el mundo moderno (At times, ancient traditions are not acceptable in the modern world).

There will be a small quiz on Friday about Spain based on the class notes and the video about Madrid.

Social Studies: Students corrected 15.2 section assessments and shared some current events in class. Students also turned in homework folders and watched a video (with notes) on the causes of the Civil War in class. No homework.

LA - The Outsiders. Checked vocabulary homework from the short story Lather and Nothing Else. Started to read and discuss Bishop's Silver. HW - none

Journalism - finish correcting rough drafts. Start typing final drafts. Final drafts are due Thursday 4/29 unless students need more time it will be due on Friday. HW - none

Career Tech - Completed EDP in Career Cruising. Printed Report to be reviewed with and signed by parent/guardian Signed EDP Report due April 30th.

Jigsawed notes for pages 398, 399, 400 & 454. We will be in the media center tomorrow to begin our "I-Search" research project. Students need to have picked what musical instrument they would like to learn more about.

Algebra: Took Chapter 9 Test. No homework.

Algebra 2: Went over Chapter 11 Test. Started Chapter 13.1

Pre Algebra: Went over last nights homework. Started 7.6.

Course 3: Chapter 9.1-9.4 Test. No homework. Austin- We reviewed for our quiz tomorrow on lesson 9.1 - 9.4.

Social Studies: Students corrected 15.1 summary and read 15.2 aloud in class. 15.2 section assessment and current events are due Wednesday. Folders due Wednesday.

LA - only two more chapters to go in The Outsiders! Students took a quiz on prepositions/prepositional phrases. Homework was collected. Students read the short story Lather and Nothing Else. We discussed the story and students are to define the vocabulary words for homework. HW - Lather and Nothing Else, vocab. due tomorrow (foray, assassin, indifference, mutilated, regime, rebel, revolutionary, rejuvenate, threshold, wardrobe)

Career Tech - Students received their Career Cruising logins and began their surveys. "Who Am I" due today.

Integrated Tech - Students will continue lessons on gears and engineering drawings.

Spanish 1: The 2-3 test was today. retakes on Thursday. Homework for tomorrow: read Lección 2 (a handout) and study the vocabulary on page 195.

Spanish 8: The students retook the page 77 vocabulary test if they wanted and we continued with the Spain unit. Please memorize these sentences: España es un país antiguo. Las tradiciones son antiguas, también.

Course 3: Reviewed for Chapter 9.1-9.4 Test tomorrow. Austin- We took a practice quiz. It is homework if it is not finished in class. Quiz on Wednesday.

Social Studies: Students checked 14.4 guided notes and read 15.1 aloud in class. Students should summarize 15.1 for homework. Current events due Wednesday.

LA - The Outsiders. Corrected the prepositions packet as well as the New Kid vocabulary. Students read the short story Thank You Ma'am on their own with discussion afterward. Theme, conflict, antagonist/protagonist etc. HW - Quiz tomorrow on prepositions and prepositional phrases. Homework will be collected.

Journalism - finishing up civil/human rights rough drafts. Rough drafts are due tomorrow for peer discussion. HW - none

Career Technology - Began self reflection in preparation for "Career Cruising". Students took a personal inventory of talents, skills, interests, and preferences. This information was then transferred to a graphic organizer called "Who Am I". The final draft was completed on the computer and submitted electronically. No Homework

Integrated Technology - Students will be working with Gears this week.

Course 3: Finished 9.4. Test on Tuesday. Austin- We finished notes on lesson 9.3. Homework-worksheet 9.3, #8-11.

Social Studies:
Students checked notes on Dorothea Dix's "Report" and shared group notes for 14.4 in class. Homework is to complete guided notes for 14.4 by Monday.

LA - Almost done with The Outsiders! I think we have 2/3 more chapters and the kids are LOVING IT!!! New Kid - we went over the plot plan (literary elements) and the vocabulary. HW - prepositions packet and vocabulary are due Monday 4/26. Vocabulary quiz Tues 4/27

Journalism - finishing up gathering 'rights' research, typing up rough draft. HW - rough draft due on Monday for peer editing.

Spanish 1: We did some internet research on college entrance requirements...it's eye opening! The 2-3 exam is Tuesday and students either took the oral quiz today or they will on Monday.

Spanish 8: We finished our internet research about college entrance requirements today. There is no homework over the weekend.

Course 3: Took Quarterly Exam. No homework. Austin- We started notes on lesson 9.3 (Pythagorean Theorem). Homework - Lesson 9.3, 1-6, 12-14.

Pre Algebra: Took Quarterly Exam. No homework

LA - Almost done with The Outsiders! Finishing up The New Kid. Grammar - prepositions, conjunctions, interjections. HW - grammar packet due on Monday 4/26.

Journalism - continuing with civil and human rights articles. The rough draft is due Monday 4/26. HW - none.

Spanish 1: We are preparing to go to the media center tomorrow and research what colleges are looking for in their applicants . Also, we are preparing for the oral quiz. Students can either take it tomorrow or on Monday.

Spanish 8: Today in honor of earth day we will be making some environmentally themed posters in Spanish! No homework.

Social Studies: Shared Legacy Day information with students.-Read "A Report to the Massachusetts Legislature" and began to answer questions based on this document in class.-Questions are due tomorrow.

Science: Today we used the "jigsaw" note-taking technique on pages 441-447. Waves quiz on Friday, April 23.

Geometry: Went over the chapter 10 practice test, chapter 10 review (odds) is homework. Chapter 10 test is tomorrow.

Course 3- Austin We went over homework. We started notes on lesson 9.2. Homework-worksheet 9.2, # 1-13.

LA - The Outsiders. Read aloud the first short story of our unit...The New Kid. Students took their Flower's For Algernon quiz. HW - none

Journalism - students got into groups and started researching on their civil or human rights topic that they chose. They are going to type up a 3 paragraph article in regards to their findings.
Paragraph 1 - background information, people involved, dates, places and how it impacted society then as well as today. Paragraph 2 - The "key players" - for and against the rights, explain in detail both sides. Paragraph 3 - concise but detailed summary of their article. HW - none.

Career Tech: Worked on Internet Scavenger Hunt (attached), due Friday (we will print bibliography together). Career Cruising fun next week!

Integrated Technology: Tested Wheelchairs yesterday, will test our redesigns tomorrow and write up results, due by Friday.

Spanish 1: We are working on chapter 2-3 as well as juggling both old and new vocabulary. Please study the sheet to prepare for Friday's oral quiz. It is attached. We are shooting for the chapter test Tuesday of next week.

Spanish 8: We spent today looking into what colleges look for in their applicants (a foreign language is a plus!) Please finish the research sheet about college admissions if you did not during class.

Social Studies: Students corrected 14.3 and shared current events in class. No homework.

Science: Completed our simile posters and then used these as inspirations for a writing assignment. We also went over the waves homework from yesterday.

Geometry: Chapter 10 practice test is homework, chapter 10 test is Thursday.

Algebra: 9.8 Practice with factoring. Homework 9.8 #3-45 every other odd. Chapter 9 Test is Tuesday, April 27th.

Algebra 2: 11.3 Notes and homework.

Pre Algebra: 7.3 Notes. No homework.

Course 3: 9.3 Notes and 9.3 Homework 2-24 evens. Austin- Course 3. We finished notes on lesson 9.1. Homework-Worksheet 9.1, # 9-16, all, 17 - 39, odds only.

Social Studies-Students completed the outline and began working on the guided notes for 14.3 in class. 14.3 notes and current events are due tomorrow.

Spanish 1: Students took the vocabulary test for 2-3. If anyone chooses to take the retake, it is Thursday, however, be aware that the score from Thursday will be what is entered in the assignment book.

Homework for tomorrow: Do the second half of pages 157-158#16,17,and 18.

Spanish 8: The class took the page 77 vocabulary test today and got ready to go the media center tomorrow during which we will be examining college websites. We will be looking at what colleges look for in their applicants, with an eye toward courses, extracurricular activities and foreign language study.

Career Tech - Students were given the Practices and Expectations yesterday, it is due signed by student and parent by Wednesday. We began an Internet Scavenger Hunt today, we are using Easybib.com to create a bibliography of where we find each answer. Due Friday.

Integrated Tech - Wheelchair Design Challenge first design and test due today. We will then redesign and retest by tomorrow. Homework - Putting Things Together Worksheet

Science: Today we reviewed the notes from yesterday along with some demonstrations of transverse and longitudinal waves. Students also checked the period & frequency worksheet.

Geometry: Reviewed quadratics and went over 10.6 notes. 10.6 worksheet is homework.

Algebra: 9.5 #3-45 Homework

Algebra 2: Took Chapter 10 Test. No homework.

Course 3: Took notes on 9.1. No homework

Pre Algebra: Started Chapter 7. No homework.

Social Studies: Students took notes on 14.2 in class. "Big Ideas" for the day: Art and literature help to create an American identity. This art and literature focuses on nature and democratic ideals. Homework is to complete 14.2 guided reading.

LA - finished reading Flowers for Algernon. We will review on Monday. HW - none - story quiz on Wed 4/21

Journalism - Students should finish their final drafts and turn into the March folder for credit. They also printed out a copy to give to their editor. HW - none.

Spanish 1: We are still working on 2-3, especially on speaking aloud. There is no written homework over the weekend, but please prepare for the vocabulary test on Tuesday.

Integrated Tech - Finished the Spatuala Challenge and discussed the Design Process. Homework: Engineering Design Process worksheet - pick a simple device from home and explain the process the engineering team may have used to create that device.

Algebra 2: Reviewed Chapter 10. Chapter 10 Test is on Thursday.

Pre Algebra: Chapter 6 Review. Test on Wednesday.

Course 3: Review for our Ch. 8 Quest tomorrow. Austin- We went over lesson 8.5.

LA - Continued reading The Outsider's to the class. We reviewed adverbs for the quiz tomorrow and grammar packets will be collected. We started reading our last science fiction story which is an excerpt from Flowers for Algernon.

Journalism - Start typing final drafts.

Integrated Tech - Restructure (again) of teams. New teams + smaller projects=a more structured plan and a happier class. The class will be "restarting" LegoRobotics and will be working with smaller projects to get us to the Bot Battle in a few weeks.

Language Arts: Students reviewed chapter 13 and were introduced to chapter 14 in class. No homework. Current events due Wednesday.

Spanish 1: The chapter 2-2 exam retakes will be either Wednesday or Thursday at lunch. We will have the vocabulary page 167 test next Tuesday, April 20. Study vocabulary, please!
