Spanish 1: We spent today practicing speaking. First the students talked for a minute about the small drawing of the store. I noticed that not everyone took notes on the page in preparation. I want to reiterate that when a person thinks through something in a foreign language, it is a good thing to plan out some vocabulary and grammar, so the notes are an indication that the preparation was thorough.
The students will be playing Spanish taboo next week and to prepare each student must write 8 cards based on our vocabulary to date. The cards are due Monday. There will be a small quiz on Monday in which each student either writes or says from memory the small description they were asked to memorize for today.
Spanish 8: The students took a small memorization quiz today based on the sentences they were asked to memorize two days ago. Afterwards we finished the biography video of Antonio Banderas. Many students did not realize he is Spanish. He actually learned his lines for his role in the Mambo Kings phonetically since he did not speak English at the time of filming! We also looked at a list of famous Spanish actors and artists. Each student chose one who he/she will investigate and make a small poster about listing date of birth, where born, and what he/she is famous for. This is due Friday, December 11.
