Thursday, January 28

Science: Today we did peer review for our lab, lab is due Monday, February 1. Midterm is Friday, February 5.

Geometry: Today we did a Tangram activity. 7.1 notes for homework.

Algebra: Students checked their practice test and received another practice test broken down into chapters (please see attached). The new practice test is due on Monday for Hours 1 and 4 and on Friday for hour 6. Midterm is on February 3rd and 4th.

Algebra 2: Students took the Chapter 7 Test. Then reviewed for the midterm. Midterm is on Feb. 3rd and 4th.

Pre Algebra: Today we checked 5.3 and 5.4 worksheets. Students then had more practice problems.

Course 3: Baker-We gathered class data from the activity on Pg. 310-311. Students then were able to derive the value of "pi". Afterward, we started 6.5. No homework. Austin- We started notes on lesson 6.4. We went over homework. No homework.

LA - Journal #18 - Write a radio commercial for electric roller skates. Think of special audio effects to catch people's attention. Students took the district wide Mid-Year Exam. HW - Read:TKM Ch 7-9 and WGTB Ch 4 due Monday.

Journalism - Finish and discuss news viewing worksheet. Students worked on their questions and information for the 3rd issue of the school newspaper.

Social Studies: Students discussed 9.3 and shared current events in class. Chapter 9 assessment is due Monday.

Career Tech - Last Day of class, all work was due by today.

Integrated Tech - LegoRobotics either individual robot performing specified task is due, or the Design brief explaining procedures and design flaws.

Science: Worked on writing lab, rough draft is due tomorrow. Lab is due Monday, February 1.

Geometry: Finished the midterm.

Algebra: Students received their scores from the Chapter 5 Exam. Retakes are Thursday at lunch. Afterward, we discussed the midterm and students received a midterm practice test (please see attached). Students have problems #1-17 for homework.

Algebra 2: Today students finished Chapter 7.6 and started 7.7. Midterm is next Wednesday.

Pre Algebra: Today we worked on multiplying and dividing fractions. Students have 5.4 Worksheet for homework (evens).

Course 3: Today we checked 6.4 and went over circumference formulas. Afterward, we revisited the circumference activity completed earlier.

LA - Journal #17 - How are you and your friends alike? How are you different? What problems would occur if 2 people were actually alike in every way? Students took a quiz on their novels.
Homework was collected. HW - TKM Ch 7-9 and WGTB Ch 4 due Monday.
***Tomorrow students will be taking the Language Arts midterm which are given to all students in the district. ***

Journalism - students worked in groups finding advertisements that represented the techniques on their worksheet. Example: Card stacking - distorting or omitting facts. They also had questions to answer at the end of the assignment. HW - working on their articles for the 3rd edition of the Hawk's Nest. Students should also be studying for the quiz on Friday.

Social Studies: Students discussed 9.2 and worked on notes for 9.3 in class. 9.3 notes and current events are due tomorrow.

Science: Today we learned how to make our data tables and graphs in excel. Students will have all day tomorrow to work on their labs in class. Peer review is Thursday, lab is due Monday. Science midterm is Friday, February 5.

Geometry: Took the 1st half of the midterm, will complete tomorrow.

Algebra: Took Chapter 5 Test. Start reviewing for Midterm on Chapters 1-6. Midterm is on Feb 3 and 4th.

Algebra 2: Students checked 7.4 and part of 7.5. We learned the rest of 7.5, then 7.6. Midterm is on Feb 3rd and 4th.

Course 3: Today students learned 6.4 and have 6.4 Practice B worksheet (1-15) for homework.

Pre Algebra: We checked 5.2 and 5.3 and then learned 5.4. Students have 5.4 homework.

Social Studies: Students reviewed the guided reading for 9.1 and worked on 9.2 section assessment in class. 9.2 section assessment is due Wednesday. Current events are due Thursday.

LA - Journal #16 - If you had to prepare a dessert for a famous guest who would the guest be? What would the dessert be? Why? Explain. Book and journal discussion on their novels. HW - quiz on WGTB ch 1-3 and TKM ch1-6
**Student's will be taking their EXPLORE midterm on Thursday. This is a district-wide test **


Journalism - finish reviewing newspaper, set up interviews, start taking notes on newspaper terms. HW - quiz on newspaper terms Friday.

Science: Worked on research and typing labs. Peer review is Thursday. We will be working on writing our labs & making graphs tomorrow and Wednesday in class.

Geometry: Finish midterm review & be sure to have theorems sheet ready for tomorrow. Midterm Tuesday & Wednesday.

Algebra 2: Today we finished 7.4 and 7.5. Students have the following homework assignments: 503/3-6, 8-52 even, 59, 61 and 510/3-6, 8-62 even, 71. Midterm is on February 3 and 4th.

Algebra: We reviewed for the test tomorrow and checked the practice test.

Course 3: Baker- We are finishing up our 6.3 Concept maps. Austin- We started notes on lesson 6.3. Multi-step equations with decimals and fractions. Homework-Worksheet 6.3 #1-3, 8-10.

Pre Algebra: Today we are doing 5.2 and 5.3. Students have both sets of homework tonight.

LA -
Journal #15 - Pick a character from any popular tv show and describe how they are stereotyped. (Include how the character looks, acts, talks, dresses, that supports the stereotype). We continued with a stereotyping exercise, which ties into their novels. This was to also help them to answer the question the IB question "What can we learn about society from fictional literature?" HW - TKM Ch 4-6 and WGTB Ch 2-3 due Tuesday.

Journalism -
reflecting on their latest edition of the Hawks Nest. Working on gathering information for their next article. HW - none.

Career Tech -

Science: Worked on writing rough draft of the efficiency lab. We will continue to work on the rough draft next week. Peer review will be Thursday, January 28 and final lab is due Monday, February 1.

Geometry: Midterm review packet chapters 1-4 (#1-43). Midterm is Tuesday & Wednesday January 26 & 27.

Algebra: Students worked on Chapter 5 Practice Test which is due on Monday. Chapter 5 and 6.7 Test on Tuesday, January 26th. Midterm review from January 27-Feb 2. Midterm Feb 3rd and 4th.

Algebra 2: Students have 7.3 and 7.4 Homework tonight.

Course 3: Baker-Today students designed a concept map/graphic organizer for multi-step equations. If not finished, it will be homework. All missing work due on Tuesday, January 26th by 3:30pm and I will not accept work after that. Austin- Students finished and looked over their quizzes. We took a timed multiplication test. We also practiced multi-step equations with decimals. No homework.

Pre Algebra: Today students continued the opportunity to "catch up". All missing assignments are due on January 26th by 3:30pm. I will not accept work after that.

Social Studies: Students shared current events and watched a video on the presidency of the United States in preparation for our next chapter on "A New Nation."There is no homework for the weekend.

LA - Journal #14 - What is stereotyping? Does it have a positive or negative effect on people? Explain. We discussed stereotyping. What are some stereotypes you have heard? Where do you hear them? Why do we have them? Students took their verb quiz and handed in their grammar packet. We discussed both novels and pointed out the stereotypes in each. HW - TKM Ch4-6 and reflection journal Ch1-3 due Tuesday. WGTB Ch 2-3 and reflection journal due Tuesday.

Journalism - Student's sold the 2nd edition of the Hawk's Nest and ½ the proceeds went to the Haiti Now fund. Students worked on their news features. HW - none.

Science: Finished collecting data for the efficiency lab and began working on calculating efficiency and writing up the rough drafts of the lab.

Geometry: Presented kitchen geometry projects. Homework is to the book cumulative review on page 428 & 429. Midterm exam is January 26 & 27.

Course 3: Austin- Students took a quiz on lessons 6.1 and 6.2. No homework.

Algebra: Today we reviewed 5.7 and the learned 6.7 (how to graph inequalities). Students have Pg. 409 #1,2, 4-48 every other even for homework. Tomorrow we are going to do a practice test for Chapter 5 (due Monday) and Chapter 5 Test is on Tuesday, January 26th.

Algebra 2: Today we went over compound interest and exponential growth and decay models. Students learned that it would be beneficial if interest rates were componunded monthly. Some students expressed interest in going to banks to search for the best interest rates to make the most money over a specific period of time.

Pre Algebra: Today students had the opportunity to catch up on any missing assignments. All missing assignments are due on Tuesday, January 26th. Chapter 4 Test corrections are due tomorrow, Friday.

Course 3: Baker- Today we went over 6.3 Worksheet. Students had the opportunity to do practice problem in class using stations. No homework tonight.

Social Studies: Students finished their presentations in class today. Current events were due today. No homework.

LA - Journal #13 - If you won the lotto what would you do with your money? (besides sharing half with Ms. Klein!) Students received their tests and test grades from there literary elements test. We went over the test and discussed and questions or confusion. Students checked their grammar homework. Quiz is tomorrow on "state of being verbs, action verbs and helping verbs"
HW - WGTB - Ch1 and TKM Ch1-3 due tomorrow. Students should study for their grammar quiz.

Journalism - discussing due dates for the next issue. Students worked on and finished up their news feature on an important African American. HW - none.

Science: Worked on preparing for data collection for the efficiency lab. No homework.

Geometry: Went over 1st half of the cumulative review. Kitchen work triangle project is due tomorrow. Midterm is January 26 & 27.

Algebra: We went over linear regression and linear correlation. Students used the graphing calculator to produce their linear regression formulas. Homework tonight is 5.7. All chapter 5 homework is due today. Chapter 5 and 6.7 Test is January 26th.

Algebra 2: We went over Chapter 6 Test and the retake is tomorrow at lunch.

Pre Algebra: We went over the Chapter 4 Test and test corrections are due tomorrow. All late work is due on Tuesday, January 26th.

Course 3: Baker- Today we reviewed 6.1-6.3 Quiz as a class. Then we did practice problems. Students have w.s. tonight for homework.

LA - Journal #12 - describe a scene from any sport using the following words somewhere in your story. bounced, struggled, spied, roared, collapsed, giggled. Students took their irregular nouns quiz and homework was collected. Students learned about action and linking verbs. HW - two kinds of verbs packet, due tomorrow. Students should be reading their novels. TKM Ch1-3 and WGTB Ch1 both should be read by Friday.

Journalism - Students went over topic ideas and picked what they wanted to write about for the next addition of the Hawks Nest. January issue will be out on Friday the 22nd. HW - none.

Humanities: Students presented projects in class. Current events due Thursday.

Worked on cumulative review. #1-35 are due tomorrow, #36-65 due Friday. Kitchen geometry project due Thursday.

Algebra: Students checked 5.6 and then learned 5.7 Day 1. Students have 5.7 Day 1 homework tonight. Chapter 5 and 6.7 Test is on January 26th.

Pre Algebra:
Students worked on 5.1 worksheet. It is homework if not finished.

Course 3:
Baker We went over the 6.1-6.3 Quiz and started 6.4. No homework. Austin Students took a practice quiz and did more multi-step problems. No homework. Quiz Wednesday.

Algebra 2:
Students have to read and fill in notes on 7.3. Students can attempt 7.3 problems, but do not have homework.

LA -
Journal #11 - Write a paragraph describing a place to eat using every letter of the alphabet. Checked the grammar packet on irregular nouns. Quiz tomorrow. I passed out the novels the students will be reading and discussing for our stereotyping unit. "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Watson's Go to Birmingham". HW - study for grammar quiz. TKM - Ch 1-3 by Friday. WGTB - Ch1 by Friday.

Career Tech -
Students completed their Design section of the Design Cycle by checking rough drafts with me and then Peer Conferencing with at least two other students.

Integrated Tech -
Lego Robotics worked on their individual robot challenge. Those that opted out worked on bringing up their grades in other classes.

Course 3:
Quiz today on 6.1-6.3. No homework. Austin- We went over homework and continued notes on lesson 6.2. No homework.

LA -
Journal #10 - Explain how Dr. King exemplifies all of the IB traits. Literary elements test. HW - finish journal, start irregular nouns packet.

Journalism -
Students watched a video on the life of Dr. King. News articles are due today. HW - none.

Career Tech - Finished up presenting "Family Budget" Great job to all they were very impressive. Now working on Finding a job posting and writing a Cover Letter to send to that employer. Project Sheet is attached.

Science: Worked on mini-lab 2B, comparing the kinetic energy of the car in two places on the track. Quizzes were returned, quiz corrections for 1/2 credit are due Tuesday. Quiz corrections directions: 1) Be done on a separate piece of paper 2) Copy entire question 3) Write out correct answer completely and 4) Write at least 2 complete sentences explaining the correct answer or make a problem solving box.

Geometry: Took the chapter 6 test, homework is to work on kitchen geometry project which is due Thursday, January 21. Midterm will be January 26 & 27.

Algebra: 5.5 Homework from assignment sheet, excluding the problems we have already done. Chapter 5 Test is on January 26 and Midterm is scheduled for Feb 3 & 4.

Algebra 2: Review for Test tomorrow and finished 7.1 and 7.2.

Pre Algebra: Chapter 4 Test today. No homework.

Course 3: Practice problems for 6.3 - working with fractions and decimals and multi-step equations.

La - Journal #9 - Write a news paragraph that includes the following words: flip-flops, cantaloupe, toothpaste, guitar, flashlight. Students corrected the Ch14-15 vocabulary. We finished the Pigman novel. Students started on irregular nouns. HW - study for the literary elements test which is Friday Dec.15. Irregular nouns packet due Tuesday.

Humanities: Students shared project current events and began to work on I.B. traits for the project. Projects are due Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Rubric was posted on the blog earlier this week. Homework is to work on I.B. traits for the project.

Geometry: Went over the practice test. Chapter 6 test is tomorrow, homework is to study. The kitchen geometry project due date has been moved to Thursday, January 21 to avoid conflicts with the Humanities Project.

Algebra: 5.5 Day 1 HW Pg. 322 #3-11 ALL

Algebra 2: 7.1/7.2 Pg. 482 #6-14even, #15-23odd AND Pg. 489 #7-13 odd, #17-23 odd. Test on Friday.

Pre Algebra: We continued to review for Chapter 4 Test. Today we did a timed review and will go over it tomorrow. What we do not finish is homework. Pg. 158

Course 3: Baker- We went over 6.3, did more practice problems and then worked on 6.4. No homework. Austin- We finished notes on lesson 6.1. We did more practice problems. No homework.

LA- Journal #8 - Write or list the pros and cons of being a tomato. Try to think of the advantages and disadvantages that no one else will consider. Students took the Pigman quiz on Ch 11-13 and I collected the vocabulary. Students started on the vocabulary for Ch14-15.

Science: Groups practiced calculating efficiency with the potential & kinetic energy data from last week. Efficiency worksheet was started in class and is homework if not finished.

Geometry: Worked on the chapter 6 practice test, this is homework. Chapter 6 test Thursday. Kitchen geometry project is due Tuesday, January 19.

Algebra: Students worked on 5.4 Homework and then pre-read 5.5 lesson for tomorrow. We did not cover 5.3, but students are responsible for deriving the point-slope equation from slope form.

Algebra 2: Today we did a Chapter 6 Review. Chapter 6 Test on Thursday.

Course 3: Baker-Today we finished 5.3 Notes. Students were allowed to do 5.3 homework in class. If they are are not finished, it is homework. Austin- We continued our notes on lesson 6.1. Homework - worksheet 6.1 #1,7,9,10,18.

Pre Algebra: We reviewed for Chapter 4 Test. Students had to fill in Pg. 76 and 77 in their note-taking guide. For each box, students must have ONE definition, question and answer. Chapter 4 Test is on Thursday.

Social Studies: Students are working on projects throughout the week. Project rubric is attached. Projects are due Tuesday, January 19, 2010.

LA - Journal #7 - rewrite the children's song Rock-A-Bye-Baby or Little Bunny Foo Foo with a more cheerful or wholesome tune. Student's checked their vocab. homework from Ch11-13. The Quiz is tomorrow. 1/13. I reviewed and went over what will be on the literary elements quiz on Friday 1/15.

Journalism - Writing and revising articles.

Spanish 1: The students have their chapter test Thursday. They will then start on a review of the semester's work to prepare for our exam.

Spanish 8: Work on the Libro de la selva work.

Note for all students: I ruptured my Achilles tendon this last weekend and will be having surgery this week. I will be at home recuperating for at least two weeks, so students will be working on packets that I will prepare in advance and send in as more is needed.

Science: Jigsaw note-taking on pages 70-72, 101 & 102. Quiz on Wednesday, January 13.

Geometry: 6.7 notes in class (similarity transformations). 6.7 worksheet is homework. Chapter 6 test on Thursday, January 14. Kitchen geometry project is due Tuesday, January 19.

Algebra: Today students learned how to derive point-slope form from the slope equation. Students will have to know how to derive the point-slope form on the Chapter 5 Test. We also learned 5.4 today and students will have time in class tomorrow to complete the homework.

Algebra 2: Students have Chapter 6 Practice Test for Homework plus the last 3 check points from 6.6. Chapter 6 Test on Thursday.

Pre Algebra: Today we finished up Chapter 4 by learning about Scientific Notation. Chapter 4 Test is on Friday.

Course 3: Baker- We went over the solving multi-step equations packet then went on to 6.3. No homework tonight. Austin- We started notes on multi-step equations (lesson 6.1). Homework-Worksheet 6.1, # 1-3, 5,6,8,16, and 17.

LA- Journal #6 - If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be and why? We finished Ch 13 in the "Pigman" novel, only 2 more chapters to go! Students worked on vocabulary for Ch11-13. Ch 11 - arrested, graft, hawking, congeal. Ch 12 - succinct, maladjusted, hovel, intimate. Ch13 - momentum, buxom. HW - finish vocabulary (definition and sentence for each). Quiz on Ch11-13 comprehension and vocab, Wed 1/13

Journalism- Working on rough and final drafts of the paper.

Social Studies: Students took "Big Ideas" quiz. Homework folders were collected in class. Project expectations were distributed today. This rubric (which includes expectations, due dates and point values) can be found on the blog. Homework for the evening is to get parent signatures and to pick a Core Democratic Value/Constitutional Principle to study.

Science: Wrapped up lab 3B (Conservation of energy) by discussing why the car's actual speed is less than what was predicted based on it's potential energy. Where did the energy go if it didn't all turn into kinetic energy? Potential & Kinetic energy worksheet is homework. Unit 3 quiz on Wednesday, January 13.

Geometry: Completed 6.6 notes (Proportionality Theorems) and took the 6.1-6.5 quiz. 6.6 worksheet is homework. Chapter 6 test Thursday, January 14.

Algebra: We spent the entire class period going over the worksheets. Students engaged in a class discussion on real world math problems involving rate of change and writing linear equations.

Algebra 2: We checked the worksheets from last class period and students turned in their homework. Students learned 6.6 and have 6.6 homework over the weekend.

Pre Algebra: We went over the 4.6 Worksheet as a class. Students should review Chapter 4 this weekend by looking over their notes and redoing some examples on their own.

Course 3: Baker- Today we went over the worksheets from last class period. We will start 6.3 on Monday. No homeworking over the weekend. Austin- We reviewed and practiced multi-step equations all hour. No homework.

LA - Journal #5 - vocabulary crossword puzzle. We read 2 ½ chapters of the "Pigman". HW - none

Journalism - rough draft articles are due today. Students discussed improvements on the newspaper.

Spanish 1: We are working on final details and drilling chapter 2-1. The test is Wednesday and Thursday. Please spend time drilling and memorizing vocabulary and -ar verb conjugations.

Spanish 8: We are watching El libro de la selva (Jungle Book) in Spanish. No homework over the weekend.

Science: Continued working on Mini-Lab 3B, predicting the car's speed based on the Law of Conservation of Energy.

Geometry: Went over 6.5 notes (SAS & SSS Similarity) and began 6.6 notes. 6.5 worksheet is homework. 6.1-6.5 quiz tomorrow.

Algebra: Students checked 5.2 work and did 5.2 Practice B and Interdisciplinary Application. Please see attached worksheets.

Algebra 2: Students checked 6.4 and 6.5 and did worksheet 6.4 B and "When Will I Ever Use This" worksheet. Please see attached.

Course 3: Students need to turn in the first two pages of the equations packet. Students were able to finish the worksheets in class and they are due on Monday.

Pre Algebra: Students worked on 4.6 Worksheets. Please see attached. 4.6 Day 2 Homework is not due until Friday.

LA - Journal #4 - Write about what you think your life will be like when you are old. (This was an interesting journal because "old" to the students and "old" to me were COMPLETELY different!) Checked Ch 9 and 10 vocabulary homework. Students took a T/F quiz on Ch 10. HW - none.

Journalism - Students sold the 1st edition of the "Hawks Nest!" Students worked on their rough/final drafts for the next issue. HW - working on their articles.

Spanish 1: I have a number of observations about what we are working on these days and I am including them in the attachment called Observations about January 7. The homework for tomorrow is to fix all errors from p. 113#15. We also drilled vocabulary in the form of a circle game in preparation for next week's chapter 2-1 test.

Spanish 8: The kids took a small quiz about Spanish traditions. We are going to start El Libro de la Selva (the Jungle Book) in Spanish. It's a lot of fun!

Science: Discussed yesterday's data collection and conducted a jigsaw for notes on pages 65-68.

Geometry: Discussed the kitchen geometry project. 6.5 notes are homework.

Algebra: Students checked 5.2 Day 1 Homework and then learned 5.2 Day 2. Students had class time to finish lesson 5.2, if not finished it is homework.

Algebra 2: Students learned 6.5 today and have 6.5 homework

Course 3: Baker- Students checked 6.2 and had 6.2 practice activity. Austin- took the chapter 5 test today.

Pre Algebra: Today we checked 4.6 and then took notes on 4.7. Students have 4.7 homework.

LA - Journal #3 - What if......... Quiz on the Pigman Ch7 and 8. Students then did the vocabulary for Ch 9 and 10. Students read Ch 10 on their own. CH10 - escapist, fixated, mulled, mundane, interrogating, strenuous, assassin, predicament . HW - Ch9 and 10 vocabulary.

Social Studies: Students shared current events and worked on the "Amendments" guided reading questions (posted yesterday) in class. Homework is to finish the guided reading. Homework folders are due Friday.

Career Tech students are presenting their "Family Budget" and writing their Evaluation of their performance and work ethic during the project.

Integrated Tech students are either creating InventorBot or working on bringing their grades up in core subjects.

Spanish 1: Please finish the work we started in class and correct 113#15 to be handed in on Friday. The 2-1 exam will be Wednesday (oral section) and Thursday (written sections), January 13 and 14.

Spanish 8: Please be ready for the memorization quiz tomorrow about ancient customs. There will be a word bank! Also, finish the writing either for or against bullfighting that we started in class today.

Science: In class mini-lab 3B (Conservation of Energy) parts 1 & 2. In this lab students collected data regarding how drop height of the car affected it's speed.

Geometry: 6.4 notes in class (proving triangles similar by AA), 6.4 worksheet is homework. We will also be working with the kitchen measurements for the kitchen geometry project tomorrow in class.

Algebra: We went over 5.1 homework and learned 5.2 Day 1 - writing and using slope intercept equations from a point and a given slope. Students must do problems from 5.2 #1,2,4-10 even ONLY. We will finish the rest tomorrrow. Please see attached calendar and Chapter 5 Assignment Sheet.

Algebra 2:
Class began with a review quiz and then we went over the materials for tomorrow. Students do not have homework today. Please see attached calendar and assignment sheet.

Pre Algebra:
Students checked 4.5 homework and then we took notes on 4.6. Students have 4.6 homework tonight.

Course 3:
Baker- Yesterday we started a new chapter on solving multi-step equations. Today we went over the homework from last night and then took notes on 6.2. Please see attached assignment sheet. Austin- We reviewed for our chapter 5 test tomorrow.

LA - Journal #2 - What is your New Year's resolution? Why? Will you be able to keep it? We checked Ch 8 - Pigman vocabulary and reviewed for the quiz tomorrow. Read Ch 9 and some of 10.

Journalism - no class early release!

Social Studies: Students reviewed "Constitution Handbook" guided reading and began to work on our "amendments" guided reading (posted on blog). Current events due Wednesday.

Happy New Year!

Science:
To get back in the swing of things, students worked on puzzles relating to kinetic & potential energy as well as renewable energy resources.

Geometry: Reviewed 6.1-6.3 and discussed kitchen geometry project. Pg. 380 (mixed review problems) is homework. Students must be prepared to work on the kitchen geometry project on Wednesday and we will have a quiz on 6.1-6.4 on Thursday.

Algebra: Students were welcomed back to a New Years Math activity. Then, students learned 5.1, took notes and have 5.1 homework. Calendar is attached.

Algebra 2: We reviewed 6.1-6.3 Quiz from before break and reviewed 6.4. Please review 6.1-6.4 on your own tonight and be ready for a quiz.

Course 3: Baker- Today we started Chapter 6, Section 1. Students have Chapter 6.1 homework tonight from the text book. Pg. 295-297 #1, 3-8, 16, 25, 26, 36, 40. Austin- We started a chapter 5 practice test. Chapter 5 test is Wednesday.

Pre Algebra: Today we reviewed Chapter 4 from before break. Students learned 4.5 before break and have 4.5 homework tonight.

Social Studies: Students were introduced to the "Constitution Handbook" (p. 232) in class. Big Idea for the day..."When reading a primary document (or anything else for that matter) always consider the order of importance." Homework is to complete the guided reading for the Constitution Handbook. Current events are due Wednesday.

LA - Journal #1 - What was your favorite thing you did over break? Why? We read The Pigman - Ch8 and worked on the vocabulary. academic, vile, arsenal, artillery - due tomorrow. Pigman quiz on Ch 7 and 8 is scheduled for Wed. Jan 6.

Journalism = Working on articles and getting the 1st issue out. HW - none.

Spanish 1: ¡Feliz año nuevo! We spent time today speaking Spanish in class. First we saw the video with the native speakers speaking the lines from pages 104-105, then the students worked in groups to recreate the same lines. They will use this same text for a small pronunciation quiz either Wednesday or Thursday (they choose the day). They must read 20 words from the two pages with their best pronunciation and they will be graded on how well they read. For tomorrow, the homework is to practice the variations sentences for 2-1. This is a series of variations they practiced before break. They have sheet called Variaciones 2-1 which contains both the sentences and the correct answers to prepare.

Spanish 8: We are working to finish the unit about Spain. Students will be displaying their work on Wednesday.

Career Tech will begin presenting their Family Budget Projects - voluntarily until Thursday. On Thursday Jan 7th, all work is to stop, if a student needs to start a computer they will forfeit 5 pts off their project grade for late work.

Integrated Tech will continue work on their LegoRobotics with Team Work Log due each week for grading. Those not participating will earn a daily grade for work accomplished.
