Math 8 - Stone

Today we did a lot of reviewing. We discussed equation solving, factoring polynomials, multiplying polynomials, and graphing parabolas.

Tomorrow we will have our Check Up. You may have a note card, but will not be able to use your notebook.

Wear red or pink tomorrow for spirit points!

All hours:  Mid-term reviews are due Tuesday.  The mid-term has been moved to Thursday for Greer's classes.  If you know that you will not be at school on Thursday, please let me know to give you the test Wednesday.

Stein - Individuals & Societies 9 - 2.13.17

What We Did Today:
We began an overview of Chapter 9, discussing nationalism and the big events that will be covered in the chapter. Students also started reading Chapter 9, Section 1 in class.

Focus Question:
How might the development of a unique culture affect national unity?

Homework:
Read Chapter 9, Section 1, pages 298 - 301. Do 1 - 3 of the Section 1 Assessment on page 301. The audio version of the text is available as an mp3 on Google Classroom.

Announcements:
  • Students will receive information about the Chapter 9 Assessment this Wednesday.
  • There is a Current Event due this Friday as an assessment grade.


Stein - Math 8 Plus - 2.13.17

What We Did Today:

Students completed Problem 1.3 : "Sliding Around: Translations." Students discovered properties of translational symmetry and used these generalizations to construct their own translation. Notes and vocabulary discussed are available at http://norupstein.weebly.com/math-8-plus-blog .

 

Focus Question:

What does it mean to say that a figure has slide or translational symmetry? How is each point related to its image under transformation by translation?

 

Homework:

None.


Spanish 2

Students practiced reflexive verbs and took notes on affirmative and negative words.

Science-Wilcox-Monday/Tuesday

Classwork: Students were given additional mid term review practice today in class. Tomorrow, we will be playing a review game of Jeopardy.

Coming up: Mid term is on Wednesday, February 15th. Next unit: Electricity!

Canvasser 2.13.17 Monday

RR ELA- Reading logs were due today! If you did not turn one in, you may do so tomorrow for late points. The new reading log will be due Wednesday ( 2.22.17) students should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes for five days a week. Students must also complete the short reader's response section, along with having a parent signature for all five days. There will be a grammar quiz on Friday ( 3.3.17)

RR Math- The blue group can complete  workbook pages ( week 2, day 1) if not finished in class. The red group worked on homework and test corrections. The signed homework and multiplication sheet are due on/before Monday ( 2.27.17) the math test will also be on Monday ( 2.27.17)
