Stein - Individuals & Societies 8 - 2.27.17

What We Did Today:

Students went over the answers to the Chapter 10 Packet. Students also began a t-chart, listing the "Good" and "Bad" aspects of Andrew Jackson's presidency.


Big Ideas:

  • The growth of voting rights and the election of Andrew Jackson signaled the growing power of the American people.

  • Andrew Jackson's presidency was marked by sectional and political conflicts.

  • The Jackson Administration supported a policy of Native American removal.

Homework:

There is a Chapter 10 Assessment Thursday, March 2. This will be a closed-note, five paragraph essay. The essay will be written in class. The essay needs to answer the question, "Was Andrew Jackson a good president?" with three main pieces of supporting evidence. For essay format, please visit http://norupstein.weebly.com/individuals--societies-blog. Students are encouraged to draft their essay to prepare for this assessment.


Math 8 - Stone

We started investigation 4 today. This lesson uses quadratic equations and tables to answer questions.


Homework: page 80 (1-4 parts a-c, 28 & 29 parts a & b)

What We Did Today:

Students completed a review packet to prepare for Check Up 1. This will be an open-note quiz over Investigation 1. The quiz will be on Thursday, March 2.


For the quiz, students need to be able to:

  • Construct a figure over a line of reflection

  • Construct a translation on a coordinate grid

  • Find the point of rotation

  • Find the number of degrees a figure has been rotated

All hours:  "Energy Flow and Circuit Diagram" worksheet from Friday is due Tuesday, as is the "Electric Circuits" worksheet from today.

Science-Wilcox-Monday

Classwork: We took a Daily Science Quiz. We then read about current and voltage, both things we measured during our first investigation. We then practiced problems about current, voltage, and resistance.

Homework: If the 13.1/13.2 sheet wasn't done in class, it needs to be finished as homework.

Geometry

Classwork: Continued developing our understanding of the coordinates in the unit circle.

Canvasser 2.27.17 Monday

Happy Monday!

RR ELA-  The reading logs will be due on Monday ( 3.6.17) students should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes for five days a week. Students must also complete the short reader's response section, along with having a parent signature for all five days. The grammar quiz will be on Friday ( 3.3.17)

RR Math- The signed homework packet and multiplication sheet were due today! You may turn in the packet and multiplication sheet tomorrow ( for late points), if you did not turn one in today. Both groups took their math test today.
