Stein - Math 8 Plus - 4.25.17
What We Did Today:
Students finished Problem 1.1, Butterfly Symmetry: Line Reflections. Students confirmed their conjectures of relationships between a line of reflection and the line segments drawn from an original vertex to their reflection vertex. Students used their generalizations to construct the reflection of a given figure. Notes and vocabulary discussed are available at http://norupstein.weebly.com/math-8-plus-blog
Focus Question:
What does it mean to say that a figure has flip or reflectional symmetry? How is each point related to its image under transformation by reflection in a line?
Stein - Intro to Coding - 4.25.17
What We Did Today:
Contracts provide a way for students to better understand and discuss functions. Through this lesson, students looked at known functions and wrote the contracts that describe those functions.
Vocabulary:
Contract - A statement of the name, domain, and range of a function.
Domain - The type of data that a function expects.
Range - The type of data that a function produces.
