What We Did Today:

Students completed chapter 15.3 and 15.4, free choice.

Stein - Math 8 Plus - 4.25.17

What We Did Today:

Students finished Problem 1.1, Butterfly Symmetry: Line Reflections. Students confirmed their conjectures of relationships between a line of reflection and the line segments drawn from an original vertex to their reflection vertex. Students used their generalizations to construct the reflection of a given figure. Notes and vocabulary discussed are available at http://norupstein.weebly.com/math-8-plus-blog

Focus Question:

What does it mean to say that a figure has flip or reflectional symmetry? How is each point related to its image under transformation by reflection in a line?


Stein - Intro to Coding - 4.25.17

What We Did Today:

Contracts provide a way for students to better understand and discuss functions. Through this lesson, students looked at known functions and wrote the contracts that describe those functions.

Vocabulary:

  • Contract - A statement of the name, domain, and range of a function.

  • Domain - The type of data that a function expects.

  • Range - The type of data that a function produces.


Science-Wilcox-Monday/Tuesday

Classwork: Yesterday we reviewed our notes, period/frequency hw, and how to draw transverse waves. Students completed review questions on the last section of notes (20.2)

Today we are discussing answers to the review questions as well as continuing our investigation on waves.

Canvasser 4.25.17 Tuesday

RR ELA- The reading logs are due Monday ( 5.1.17) students should be reading for a minimum of 30 minutes for five days a week. Students must also complete the short reader's response section, along with having a parent signature for all five days. There will be a grammar quiz on Friday (4.28.17) students can review pages 42-49 in their grammar packet.

RR Math- The blue group can complete workbook pages ( week 2, day 2) if not finished in class. The signed homework packet and multiplication sheet are due on/before Tuesday ( 5.2.17) the math test will also be on Tuesday ( 5.2.17). Students workbook pages, notes, and homework packet are great study tools!
