Spanish 1: Remember the semester final is Tuesday. To prepare, look at the vocabulary every day. One effective technique to look at the words right before bed. There is research that supports the idea that when the conscious brain goes to sleep, the rest of the brain continues to process the information, especially the most recently added information. I suggest the students add one more chapter each night, so that by Tuesday, they are reviewing all of the chapters that are covered.
Also, on Wednesday and Thursday if time is needed, the students will have a speaking quiz. They are charged with speaking continuously for 60 seconds. Because they cannot read the words, I am not going to grade them for perfect speech (although that would be fine!). I will instead grade for smooth speech without pauses. The goal is for them to get into Spanish and stay there.
Spanish 8: There is no homework over the weekend, however, please make sure that any homework already assigned is completed. Parents and guardians should have seen and written notes to verify that they have seen the class syllabus and the sheet with memorization techniques.
