Science: Took a quiz on the electricity unit. No homework. 

Geometry: Went over the 9.2 homework and took notes on 9.3 (reflections), homework is the 9.3 worksheet. 9.1-9.4 quiz is on Tuesday.

Technology 8 - Orlando: What we did today: Students finished their college presentations today.  Once they finished, they worked on Nitrotype. Homework: No homework Discussion topics: What was your overall feeling about the college research projects?

Spanish I: The 2.3 quiz (part 2) will be on Thursday, March 21. The 2.3 (part 2) worksheet is due then.

Course 3: All classes except for 4th hour have a test on Monday.  Extra review starts on page 636 of their textbook.  4th hour test is on Tuesday.

Thursday, March 7

Geometry: Today we used a variety of applets to explore reflections. http://illuminations.nctm.org/LessonDetail.aspx?ID=U139

Science: Only 2nd and 3rd hour met today and took notes on page 330-333.

Humanities: Students reviewed chapter 11, brainstormed current events and watched a video on westward expansion in class. Current events are due tomorrow.

Spanish I: Work on the 2.3 vocab packet part 2. This won't be due until the 2.3 quiz (part 2) that won't be for a few weeks.

Pre-Algebra: Started our Chapter 8 test.  No homework!

Algebra: Did not meet today.  Remember the quiz for 8.1/8.2 is on Monday.

ELA - Students presented projects on a voluntary basis, then read for the rest of the hour.  Many students have not read anything other than To Kill a Mockingbird and still have 3 more individual books to read before the end of the marking period.  The due date for AR quizzes is March 25!  Please get your students reading!

 

Homework: READ!!!!!! Make sure your Personal Journal has at least 26 entries.

Wednesday, March 6

Science: Completed Investigation 14-A (Series and Parallel Circuits) and went over Ohm's Law homework from Friday. Homework is the Series and Parallel worksheet. Electricity quiz is on Friday.

Geometry: Took notes on 9.2 (matrices) and checked the 9.1 worksheet. Homework is the 9.2 worksheet (front only). Quiz on Tuesday. 

Technology 8 - Orlando: What we did today: Students presented their college/university Prezi to the class. Homework: College Presentations will continue tomorrow and Friday - if needed. Discussion topics: Did the presentations today engage you as someone in the audience?  What strong elements did the presentation have?  Where could they have improved?

Spanish I: If you didn't finish the quiz today, then you will finish it tomorrow. The new vocab packet 2.3 (part 2) will be due next week (date not set yet)

Course 3: Today we did stations to review for our chapter 11 test on Monday.  This is a very big chapter.  Encourage your children to come in for help if they need it. No homework.


Humanities: Students checked chapter 11 assessment and worked with groups to present interesting facts from chapter 11 to the class. No homework. Current events are due Friday.

ELA - Students viewed the final part of To Kill a Mockingbird we compared and contrasted the book and the movie, noticing how many characters are different, some scenes didn't happen in the book and did in the movie, and vice versa. Students were allowed to work on their projects, take or retake the AR quiz for TKM. Homework: Journal entry #26 - READ 1/2 Day tomorrow, I will only see AM classes.

Pre-Algebra: Homework:  Chapter 8 review.  We have a test tomorrow.

Algebra: We continued our work with section 8.2.  Homework:  worksheet 8.2. Quiz on Monday

Tuesday, March 5

Parent Teacher Conferences are Wednesday & Thursday

Science: Mrs. Kettner's class did investigation 14-A, all other classes took notes on series and parallel circuits. No homework, lab corrections will be passed back tomorrow. Quiz on Electricity Friday!

Geometry: Took notes on section 9.1 (translations and vector notation) and chapter 8 tests (98% Average!) were returned. 9.1 worksheet is homework, 9.1-9.4 quiz will be on Tuesday, March 12.

Algebra Worked on dividing exponents.  Homework:  worksheet 8.2 (all). Quiz next Monday covering sections 8.1/8.2

Course 3: Today we worked on graphing equations using the slope and the y-intercept.  We also started to review for our chapter 11 test on Monday.

Monday, March 4

Science: Investigation 14-A (Series, parallel and short circuits) completed in class. Mrs. Kettner's class took notes on series & parallel circuits.

Geometry: Took the chapter 8 test.

Humanities: Students checked tests, 11.1 and 11.2 in class. Students also began to work on 11.3 section assessment and/or extra credit work in class. Homework is to complete 11.3. Current events are due Friday.

Spanish I: 2.2 test is tomorrow. 2.3 quiz (part 1) is on Wednesday (and the 2.3 vocab packet and sentences are due)

Friday, March 1

Technology 8 - Orlando: What we did today: Students had "fun fact Friday" in which they looked up fun facts on colleges/universities.  They then worked the rest of the hour on their college research projects. Homework: College Presentations will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of next week Discussion topics: What fun facts did you learn about a college/university?

Geometry: Went over the chapter 8 practice. Chapter 8 review (odds) is homework. Chapter 8 test is Monday.

Science: Went over the notes and investigation from this week along with some observations of the affects of voltage and and resistance on current. Finally, students watched a video on Ohm's Law and did some practice calculating Ohm's Law (click here for the website). Homework is the Ohm's Law worksheet.

ELA - Students took their TKM AR quiz (due by the end of the day).  They were then given the rest of the hour to start on their next AR book (a total of 4 books due for this marking period) and/or work on their final projects for TKM (due Wednesday). Homework: READ! Click here for the rubric and directions for the project. 

Spanish I: I moved the 2.2 test to Tuesday, March 5th and the 2.3 quiz to Wednesday, March 6th to give us more time to practice. The review sheet handed out today is due on Monday, March 4th. The 2.3 vocab packet and sentences are now due on Wednesday, March 6th.

Pre-Algebra: Students received a copy of their grades today.  Any missing assignments are due on Monday.  Homework:  Graphing packet.

 

Algebra: We started rules of exponents.  We will finish the notes on Monday.  Homework:  The 10 problems on the last page of the notes.

Thursday, February 28

Spanish I: 2.3 quiz (part 1) has been moved to next Tuesday, March 5th.. The 2.2 test is still on Monday. The review packet passed out on Monday is now due this Friday. The 2.3 vocab packet passed out a few weeks ago is now due next Tuesday, March 5th.

Science: Read and took notes on pages 303-309 (Ohm's Law, resistance and voltage)

Geometry: Went over the 8.6 homework and worked on the practice test. The practice test is homework. Chapter 8 test is Monday.

Humanities: I am out of the building for district meetings on Thursday and Friday. Students should complete 11.1 and 11.2 section assessments for Monday. If students complete 11.1 and 11.2, they can work on 11.3 section assessment and/or extra credit opportunities I left with Mrs. Schoenbart (our substitute teacher). There will be no Friday blog posting. I look forward to seeing everybody again Monday.

Technology 8 - Orlando: What we did today: Students worked the entire hour on their college research projects. Homework: *Due to the large number of absent students yesterday, we will begin our presentations on Tuesday! Discussion topics: How many credits are you required to complete in order to receive your undergraduate degree?

Algebra: Took Chapter 7 test.  No homework.
