Science: Continued exploring how the photogates can be used to find speed data with a car on a track.

Geometry: Began our first unit with an introduction to basic terms and constructions.

LRC, RR ELA, RR Math: All signed course packets and parent contact form were due today.  If you did not turn yours in, please do so by Monday. I will also be checking to make sure everyone has their course supplies next week. 

RR ELA: Please select your first book that you will use for your reading log that you will receive on Monday.  It is OK to use the same book that you are using for your general education English class.

French 2: Map quiz on Monday

ELA- Kennedy - We spent a nice cool day in the Media Center! So lucky I booked it today for Summer Reading AR quiz taking and book check out. Homework: ALWAYS Read 30 minutes minimum a day.

Humanities: Students analyzed primary and secondary sources in class today. No homework.

Algebra: Did sections 1.1,1.2,2.7 notes. Homework: Worksheet 1-1 and 1-2 all are attached. Also attached are the worked out answers to the warm-up. Have a great weekend!

Science: Continued exploring how the photo-gates measure time.

Geometry: Continued exploring proofs using comic strips. Homework is to read about constructions & take notes

Humanities: Students reviewed the 5 W's of History, worked on a KWL and played a history "game" in which they tried to identify primary sources in class. No Homework

ELA- Students began their first Reader's Workshop with Day 1 o their Launching Unit.  We discussed how important it is to have evidence of how much we read and filled in our first book of the school year on our Reading Logs.  This is NOT our Summer Reading Requirement.  We will be going to the Media Center tomorrow to take any remaining quizzes for Summer Reading. Welcome back!

Science: Yesterday students took a pre-test on the main learning objectives and went over the course syllabus. Today we started using the timers and photogates which will allow us to make precise measurements of motion throughout the year.

Geometry: Yesterday students participated in an assessment of Van Hiele Levels and went over the course syllabus. Today we began discussing the logic of mathematics and proofs through comic strips. Attached is an article regarding Van Hiele Levels of Geometric Understanding. 

ELA- Kennedy:  Students were given the syllabus yesterday to be signed by the end of the week.  Today we conducted a performance assessment that will be our baseline for writing abilities.  We will be conducting Reading Assessments over the next few weeks to find the basis for reading instruction!  Welcome back!  Hope everyone's summer was fun!  Now back to work!

Chinese: Hi Everyone, Welcome back to the school. Today is our first class officially as we had assembly yesterday. Today, we went through the syllabus. Now, you know what you were expected to do in the class. I hope your will enjoy learning Chinese this year. Parents and students, please spend some time to read the syllabus at home, sign and return it back tomorrow in the class. Please make sure to get materials (binder, dividers, notebook, dry erase marker) this weekend. I would love you to have everything ready on Monday. See you all tomorrow. LAST BLOG POST OF THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR!

Science: Students had time to finish their Eye Packet and Mrs. Petersen demonstrated the dissection process to help them prepare for Monday's cow eye dissection. BRING MINTS/GINGER CANDY!

Geometry: 8th graders took the final exam today. 7th graders decided what day they wanted to take it next week. All Geometry books are due on Monday!

R. Room  Math:  Bring your homework Monday if you forgot it today!

C. Reading:  Logs due Monday.  LAST ONE :)

Technology - Final projects presented today.  Great job Tech!

Pre-Algebra: Today students finished up their Final Exams.  I have so enjoyed getting to know the 8th Grade class of 2014 and wish them the best of luck in high school!

Humanities: Students reviewed chapter 19 in class. No homework.

Thursday, June 5

Science: Today we began learning about the parts of the eye and how the eye works. Tomorrow will be the dissection demonstration followed by students dissecting the eye themselves on Monday.

Geometry: Finished going over the final exam review and signed up to bring items for our final exam lunch. We also voted on whether to take the final exam tomorrow or Monday- it was a unanimous decision to take the final tomorrow so we can play giant jenga on Monday. Students either signed up to bring something for lunch tomorrow or $5 to chip in towards Jimmy Johns. 

C. Reading:  Logs are due Monday.

LRC:  Party tomorrow- don't forget to bring your food/drink item to pass.

R. Room Math:  Test/homework packet due tomorrow.  Study!

Humanities: Students checked 19.4 in class today. No homework.

Course 3: Final exam today and tomorrow.  No homework.

Pre-Algebra: Today students completed their final exam. If students have missing or absent work to turn in, it must be turned in by Monday, June 9th or they will receive no credit. 

Wednesday, June 4

Science: Final Exam- Woot Woot!

Geometry: Continued reviewing for the final. Homework is to finish the final exam review. Final is Monday.

Spanish II: Study for the final on Friday and Monday.

French I: Study for the final on Friday and Monday.

Spanish I: CHANGE - -we will take the listening portion and 2 question written answer portion ON Friday!!!  Then Monday will be the rest of the Final Exam.  Remember to come to class with personal needs taken care of!!  --no one is leaving the room.  Surrender your phone/itouch/mini tablet as you enter!! REVIEWS--all due on Friday. There will be some in class time Thursday after Jeopardy and there will be time after you complete the beginning of the Final on Friday. BOOKS ARE DUE Monday!!!

Pre-Algebra: Today we had a Final Exam review problem solving workshop in which students rotated to different stations to complete a review problem that will help prepare them for the final exam.  HW: Tonight please set aside some time to study for tomorrow's final exam. Come to class with any last minute questions. Students may e-mail me questions tonight, as well!

ELA- Students finished their Reading Assessments and were given time to read (many are still missing AR quizzes for this marking period) and study for finals. Homework: READ!

 

Technology - Kennedy - Presentations are well underway for our Family Budgets.

Tuesday, June 3

Science: Went over the final exam review. Homework is to STUDY for tomorrow's final exam! The best things to study are the review and old quizzes/tests (electricity, sound & light).

Geometry: Went over the review from yesterday, tonight's homework is #25-47 on the review. Final exam is Monday, June 9.

Spanish II: Study for the final on Friday and Monday.

Humanities: Students checked 19.1/19.2 in class today. Homework is to finish 19.3 free choice for tomorrow.

Corrective Reading:  Your last log is due Monday 6/9/14.

R. Room Math:  Test is Friday 6/6/14.  Study this week.  Homework packet is due on or before 6/6/14.  Red and Purple group, finish workbook pages from today if you did not in class.

ELA - Students presented their "This I Believe" or Credo statement and read.  Reading Assessments are continuing. Homework: READ!

Technology - Kennedy - Family Budget presentations began.  Students seemed to have enjoyed this project more than others.

Spanish I: Today we played a Question and Answer game for review. We worked on multiple review sheets in class. First Review (from Monday) is due tomorrow.  All else is due Friday. TOMORROW--go to Media Center instead of Avery Lab.  We have a computer review activity and packet due Friday.

Pre-Algebra: Today we discussed all of the questions on the review packet. Students used their "difficulty ratings" to help the find the areas in which they needed more assistance or to ask questions. We will continue to review tomorrow and complete the final exam on Thursday, June 5th. HW: Pre-Algebra Final Exam Practice page (only problem #s that are multiples of 5...5,10,15, 20, etc.). CONTINUE PREPARING FOR THE FINAL EXAM AT HOME. PLEASE COME TO CLASS WITH ANY QUESTIONS TOMORROW! Happy Studying!
