Geometry: Went over the 7.5 homework and the 7.6 notes (sine and cosine ratios, the students learned SohCahToa!). Homework is to complete the 7.6 worksheet. Chapter 7 test is on Wednesday, February 8.
Science: Investigation 13-A parts 1-4, building simple circuits and comparing insulators and conductors. We will continue this investigation tomorrow and Friday. I am hoping to have all of the midterm scores by Friday.
ELA: Students discussed valid reasons to back up their opinion. We read several articles and discussed the validity of reasons given for the arguments. We then practiced backing up arguments (whether we agreed with it or not) and then practiced with the topics we discussed yesterday. Homework: TKM journal chapters 7-9
Tech: We continued with our Moodle coursework. Students used their notetaking skills learned yesterday while viewing videos on "Career Forward" network.
Humanities: Students reviewed chapter 9 and shared current events in class. No homework. ***I will be out of the building on Thursday and Friday. Students will have work for 9.2 on Thursday and 9.3 on Friday. If students choose, they can earn rarely offered extra credit by completing chapter 9 assessment by Monday.
Pre-Algebra: We worked with negative integers. Homework-worksheet 4.6, # 1-28 evens....skip 20 and 22. Do #21 instead.

Science: Today we began our unit on electricity. All labs have been returned, lab corrections are due on Monday, February 6. We will go over the midterm on Thursday or Friday (after everyone has had the opportunity to take it!).
Geometry: We finished going over the 7.5 notes (tangent ratios) and took a quiz on 7.1-7.4. Homework is the 7.5 worksheet. The chapter 7 test is Wednesday, Feburary 8.

Science: Went over the midterm review and the study guide (both of which were posted on Wednesday). Homework is to study for the midterm on Monday!
Geometry: Went over the 7.3 worksheet and encouraged students to remember to at least TRY every problem. I am concerned that students don't look back to the notes that we took on a section (or the section in their book) to help them figure out how to solve problems. All problems on the homework have an example in the notes that will at least help get you started! We then completed the 7.4 notes (special right triangles), 7.4 worksheet FRONT SIDE ONLY is homework. Students were also encouraged to come in at lunch and work on the homework or come in early if they ever have difficulty and want help. ***Reminder, kitchen geometry project is due on Monday.

Technology - Mrs. Weiss came in today to start the transition to Berkley High. Former Norup and Anderson students were interviewed on the High School on video. It was interesting to see our students all grown up! Homework: Turn in Practices and Expectations if you haven't yet. Practice on Typingweb.com

Science: Today we played jeopardy to review for the midterm. Roller coaster labs are due tomorrow and the science midterm is Monday. See yesterday's post for a copy of the study guide and review.
Geometry: Went over the 7.2 homework and reviewed solving quadratics (They're BAACCCKKK!). Took notes on section 7.3 (similar right triangles). 7.3 worksheet is homework. This chapter will be challenging and I have urged students to commit to spending lunches with me to get extra help with the homework.

Science: Peer reviewed the roller coaster lab (see yesterday's post for a copy of the rubric). Final draft of the lab is due on Friday, January 27. We will spend the remainder of the week reviewing for the midterm. Midterm is Monday, January 30.
Geometry: Started chapter 7 by discussing what we know about the Pythagorean theorem and what it means and taking 7.1 notes. 7.1 worksheet is homework and the kitchen geometry project is due on Monday, January 30.
Spanish I: We went over the oral questions for the quiz in a few weeks. Keep these safe and study your answers every night. We also began a reading comprehension packet that is due Monday, Jan 30th.
