Day #1 of Semester 2!
Science: Worked on the midterm review and rough drafts for the roller coaster lab. Rough drafts need to be complete tomorrow for peer review and final drafts are due Friday (rubric is attached). Midterm review is due on Thursday, midterm is Monday, January 30.
Geometry: Went over the midterm exam results and kitchen work triangle requirements. Kitchen work triangle project is now due on Monday, January 30. We will start chapter 7 tomorrow.
Pre-Algebra: Today we worked on LCM again. Students were given a review on lessons 4.1 - 4.4. Quiz is Wednesday.
Humanities: Students reviewed 8.1 and 8.2 in class. We also introduced 8.3 and began to work on 8.3 guided reading. Homework is to complete 8.3 guided reading. Chapter 8 test is on Wednesday. We will have a review tomorrow.
Algebra (Hill): Today we began our study of "systems of equations" by graphing two functions and recording their point of intersection. Homework finish the 7.1 worksheet passed out today in class.
Algebra (Graham) We went over the midterms today. Students are welcome to meet with me one-on-one to discuss their exams. If parents would like to see the exams, please contact me via e-mail. Homework: Graphing worksheet. It is review. It is in preparation for the upcoming unit, which is solving systems of equations.
ELA - Students were given time to read chapters 4-6 in To Kill a Mockingbird, define their vocabulary words, fill in their journals. Journals and vocabulary are due on Thursday, this Friday's quiz will encompass chapters 1-6 journal and vocabulary. Homework: Read.
Technology (Kennedy): Welcome back to Technology! We went over rules, practices and expectations, and cleared/organized our H:drives. Signature sheets went home, due by Thursday for an A.
Technology (Graham): We went over procedures and discussed our plans for the semester. Homework: Have parents sign procedure sheet. Due tomorrow.

Science: Students began building (hours 3-5) and collecting data for roller coasters (hours 6 & 7). We will continue with data collection and writing up the lab tomorrow, lab planner is attached. Our peer review will be on Tuesday, January 24 and the final lab will be due Friday, January 27. The science midterm will be Monday, January 30 (we will review next week).

Language Arts: Students learned a little history about the 1930s and were introduced to our next unit To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Please excuse the condition of the books, they have lived a hard life :). We started reading the first chapter section (Chapters 1-3) and began filling out the worksheets for the reader's journal. Three chapters will be due each week by Thursday, as this will be our class discussion. Homework: Read TKM 1-3 and complete the questions for the Reader's Journal.

Science: Discussed yesterday's efficiency and energy flow investigation and completed the Unit 3 notes. Efficiency worksheet is homework. Next week we will beging working on the Roller Coaster Lab which will be due January 27. Midterm is January 30
Geometry: Went over the review of chapter 1 and Chapter 6 tests were returned. Homework is to complete the midterm review for chapters 2-4 (see yesterday's post for a copy of the midterm review), midterm is Thursday, January 19. Directions for the kitchen work triangle project were also discussed and examples were shown to the class. Kitchen work triangle project is due Wednesday, January 25.
Language Arts: Students polished and turned in their Literary Analysis! We took a quiet day to read and take AR quizzes prior to starting our next novel unit....To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Have a great long weekend. Happy Birthday MLK

Science: Investigation on Efficiency and Energy Flow Diagrams. Quest corrections are due tomorrow.
Humanities: Students checked 7.3 section assessment and worked on 7.4 guided notes. Homework is to complete the guided notes. Big Ideas for the week:
-Revolution was diverse.
-We needed help to win.
-It was a civil war.
-There was a cost for victory.
Lanuage Arts: Students worked on publishing their final draft in the Media Center. We were unable to book the Media Center for tomorrow, so I asked those that are able to type tonight to do so. We will be back in our classroom with the COW tomorrow. Literary Analysis Packet - Due Friday, 1/12/12 - TOMORROW!!!!!!!!
