Science: Students continued working on the  "Is The Force With You?" lab rough drafts. Rough drafts for peer review are due tomorrow. Students do NOT have to print their paper as students can peer review with electronic copies to save paper. Students with google accounts will also be able to "share" their final drafts with me in lieu of printing out a paper copy. Final drafts are due on Monday, November 24.

Geometry: Continued our discussion of congruence by analyzing various congruence proofs. Quiz on concurrency is tomorrow. 

French 2: Unit 10 quiz tomorrow. Unit 10 test on Friday and Monday

Pre-Algebra: Today we finished notes over 3.3. The homework is 3.3, 1-21 odd and 23-24 due tomorrow. I have added a challenge worksheet on the back if a student wants to substitute a challenge question for a regular assigned problem, or just as extra practice. Humanities: Students reviewed 4.4 and began to work on 5.1 of the text in class. Homework is to complete 5.1 guided questions.

ELA - On Day 8 students debated each other's themes. We read over the three paragraphs written so far and found any different points of view and debated this. The idea is that the author should win because they have so many pieces of evidence to back up their thesis. Students then worked to incorporate the counterargument in to their paper, be it included in an already written paragraph or writing a new paragraph dedicated to the refuting of the counterargument. Homework: Journal entry 2.19 (counterargument paragraph) and READ!!! We are close to 1/3 way through the 2nd marking period we should have at least one quiz taken by now and well on our way to 1/2 way through our point goals!

Monday, November 17

Science: Worked on the conclusion and critique/reflection sections of the lab, rough draft is due on Thursday, November 20 and final drafts are due on Monday, November 24. Students will have the opportunity to type their labs tomorrow and Wednesday in class.

Geometry: Began developing triangle congruence criteria- no homework. Unit 3 quiz on Thursday.

ELA- Students learned how to incorporate evidence in their paragraphs during Writer's Workshop Day 6. Tonight's journal entry is to be a Connected Example paragraph. Homework: Journal 2.15 & Read. Attached are the transition words and phrases and extended example.

Science: Collected data for "Is the Force With You?" lab. Students then worked on writing their methods. Homework is to complete graphs and data analysis- the lab planner is attached.

ELA - Day 5 - Students created their Thesis statements and by taking their outlines from last night and formatting their thesis with their theme with the three reasons backing this theme. We double checked our evidence, yet again, to be sure each piece of evidence directly relates to the thesis. We will begin our body paragraphs next week, working toward Peer Editing right before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Homework: READ!

Algebra: We took our chapter 4 test and an IB assessment today. No homework this weekend! Check Family Access for any missing assignments.

Thursday, November 13

Science: Students took the unit 2 quiz and then began working on measuring mass and deciding how much force they will use for the "Is the Force With You?" lab. Tomorrow we will continue with data collection and begin making graphs of the data.

Geometry: Continued discussing congruence criteria, homework is the congruence handout. Quiz on 3.1-3.3 Thursday, October 20.

Humanities: Students continued to work on 4.3 guided questions in class. There was also time to work on current events in class. 4.3 guided questions and current events are due tomorrow.

Algebra: No official homework. attached are the answers to the review. Please check out www.classzone.com for some extra practice (select High School Math, Michigan, and our book is Algebra 2007). Try the section quizzes from chapter 4.

Spanish: WHAT WE DID TODAY: I checked for completion of last night's homework, and also for materials (textbook, binder, pencil). We talked about similarities between European languages and how they relate to one another, and worked on Calendar puzzles. Finish by Monday, if it wasn't finished in class.  We meet in the PYP lab tomorrow for more Country Study research. Students should bring their Country Study papers if they started one. If they didn't, there will be more available in the lab. Students may bring ear buds to listen to music while working on their Country Study research papers.

·       Now that the weather is turning colder, how are you fitting in daily exercise?  Describe the activities you are doing and how often.

·       What activities influence you to be inactive?

·       What other kinds of healthy lifestyle choices do you incorporate into your daily routine

Criteria

Ø Essays should be informative.

Ø 1-2 pages in length and in final draft form.

Ø A typed paper is preferred but you may hand write.  Must be legible.

Ø Double check your spelling.

Papers are due on or before Monday, November 17. You may turn it in before the due date, but it will be late (lower grade) if not turned in when you come to class.

Wednesday, November 12

Science: Students worked with their groups to plan their inquiry lab for unit 2, the lab planner is attached. We will continue planning tomorrow, students need to bring in any supplies they need tomorrow, we will collect data on Friday. 

Geometry: Began our unit on congruence today, homework is 3.1 practice #1-6.

Humanities: Students concluded a discussion of Veterans Day and began to work on the first half of 4.3 of the text. Homework is to finish the first 10 questions of 4.3 guided notes.

ELA - Students continued their Writer's Workshop with Day 3 - we found different types of Evidence and used it to test our theory about our theme. Homework: Journal 2.10 & Read!

Tuesday, November 11

Science:Continued discussing Newton's 2nd law, homework is to complete the Newton's 2nd Law worksheet. For #5 students will have to look up acceleration due to gravity. Tomorrow we will start planning our next inquiry lab, and students will work on this for the remainder of the week and into next week. Students who are absent on Friday will be missing data collection :( Quiz on the 1st and 2nd law on Thursday.

Geometry: Took the composite over intersecting lines quiz, students need to finish the quiz for homework.

ELA- Students continued their Literary Analysis with Day 2 of Writer's Workshop. We explored themes and looked for evidence to support our theme, if there was not enough evidence to support the theme, we thought about changing our focus. Homework - Journal entry 2.8 - Read - FYI - we set our reading goals for this marking period last week. Students should be reading toward their own personal goal.

Pre-Algebra: Today we went to the computer lab. We worked on Solving One-Step and Two-Step Equations with positive, negative and decimal coefficients. There is no homework.

Spanish: WHAT WE DID TODAY: Today, we practiced the 'La Clase' portion of the Chapter 2 vocabulary list. Attached is the puzzle we worked on. Please download and complete if you were not in class today. TAREA: Study for Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow (Phone a Friend)
